Packing Tips
A full house packing service is
available from Littlejohn Removals,
but if you would like to do the whole process yourself, or just part of it,
hopefully these
handy hints and tips will be useful.
You may even find it therapeutic.
1.
Small boxes are good for packing books, CDs, wine,
magazines etc. If after filling the box, you find there is free top space, fill
up with towels, linen etc so that it will not buckle under the weight of
another box on top of it.
2.
Large boxes are good for pots, pans, Tupperware etc.
Once again fill out with cushions or soft toys
3.
Crockery – line the bottom of the box and the sides
with paper. For cups and glasses, roll in paper, tucking the excess inside.
Always stand them on end, never on the side. You may, with mugs or cups manage
two layers. Put lots of paper between layers.
For plates, again roll in paper and
always stand the plates on their rims, never flat.
4.
A large flat-packed box taped at one end, becomes a
very good protector to slide a picture or painting inside before taping the
top-edge. Always place same-sized
picture frames either face to face, or back to back.
5.
Any shelving, be it metal or wood, should be disassembled.
It saves us room and you money
6.
Worried about moving your jewellery? Don’t be. Simply
wrap in cloths or a lint-free material before replacing in your jewellery box.
We will take care of it from there.
NB We can supply you with small and large boxes,
packing paper, bubble wrap and tape.
Remember – take your time, if you are worried about any aspect of the removal process, we are just one phone-call away.
